8th July 2023 - Ride to Khartoum Hotel in Kitchener

It was a beautiful sunny if somewhat cool morning and nine eager riders assembled at St. Ives.

MTC took this photo at St. Ives with the sun at her back!!!

MTC took this photo at St. Ives into the sun!!!

We headed to the PITS to pick up two more riders making a huge "eleven" riders!!! We might need corner marking??? Naaaa everybody knows where we are going.

Morning tea at Jerry's, Kulnura. It was pretty busy but everybody was served in good time with coffee, portuguese tarts and other delights.

Our illustrious group at Jerry's Kulnura ... unfortunately Andy was "cropped" by accident.

Keith called the Khartoum Hotel in Kitchener to book a table for us just in case they were busy!!
There was much serious discussion of world affairs as we consumed our sustenance. MTC announced it was "world chocolate day" which was greeted by a huge yawn. It's always some obscure day for MTC. I think she dreams them up just for the rides. Our next leg was to the Khartoum Hotel in Kitchener via Wollombi, Millfield and Sandy Creek road. John W detoured to meet a long lost cousin in Bellbird and the rest of us carried on the planned route. We all arrived at the Khartoum Hotel together which has to be a first. There was our table ready for us. There was no need to book as the Saturday morning rush hadn't started but better safe than sorry. John W arrived a bit later .... his long lost cousin is still lost. C'est la vie!! As usual in these situations someone ate someone else's lunch and was lumbered with a tough steak sandwich instead of gourmet burger (if there is such a thing). Again the discussions were animated and varied like who has cornered the market for spare parts for Jetstar's aircraft, which palace is the retiring QANTAS irish leprachaun going to live in .... and who gives a s..t.
Having finished our repast we headed back down Quorrobolong Road and turned left on Sandy Creek road. The route home took us over familiar territory through Freemans Waterhole, Cooranbong, Wyee, Hue Hue road and to the freeway via the Tri-angle at Alison. As we went along riders peeled off and went their merry way. Suitcase headed to the boonies of Kincumber and rest of us "civilised" people fanged down the freeway to the Peats Ridge exit and completed our loop at Peats Ridge where the last rider left me so I was on my ownsome for the rest of the way home.
A fine days riding with a great group of people.
Thanks for coming.

Cheers

Alan
