Gardens of Stone Ride 20th Feb 2025

On a dubiously promising day for sunshine, 15ish riders gathered at McGraths Hill Maccas to solve world problems and hopefully see 'The Gardens of Stone'. In an effort to make the ride 'interesting' a trip the previous week, by 4WD, had shown that the scenery was spectacular when using the unpaved tracks into the area but if tried by bike several riders may have found themselves as involuntary short term residents of the area. consequently we stayed on the tar. The weather was good up to Kurrajong and then deteriorated to Mt. Tomah, with visibility above 20 metres a luxury! After morning tea 3 guys 'piked out' as they 'seemed to prefer to see where they were going' so we lost Rob, our TEC. Erica volunteered to replace him and we headed off to Lithgow. I never knew who was following as when on a 'good bit, I could see one bike in the rear view mirror. Visibility returned slowly after Bell and on descending into Lithgow returned to normal. Southern Highlands Ride 13th Feb 2025

7 Riders departed Heathcote Macca’s   at 10:00am   and trekked south towards the Kiama Blowhole for morning tea via Stanwell Tops. We rode through the scenic National Park until we came across a road closure…no worries…lead by Rod we turned left and head northbound for 20k’s or so and crossed the Audley Weir before cutting back on to Pacific Highway and then headed south once again. In due course we all arrived safely at the Kiama Blowhole for morning tea, the blizzard blowing at the time mucked up everyone’s hair style so after a quick M/ T we made our way back “up the mountain” (again lead by Rocket) towards the Robertson Pie Shop. Mother Nature put on a display of some light precipitation, heavy fog and zero visibility at times whilst making our way to the Potato Capital of NSW. As the balance of riders arrived for our lunch break in Robertson one rider was already partaking in his 2nd pie, obviously wanting to contribute to the local economy etc. Back to Sydney via ...

27th Anniversary of Northern Beaches Branch - 9th February 2025

Today's ride turned out to be a bit of a non-event. Only two riders turned up. Others apparently had better things to do. We sat and had coffee and discussed world events and our health status. Then we went home. Cheers, Robert (aka Suitcase)

Mount Sugarloaf Ride 6th Feb 2025

Beautiful Weather for a "may you live in interesting times" type of day of riding   18 riders gathered at Berowra on a gorgeous Sydney day I was about to give my ride briefing - when I realised that we were already split into 2 groups Little did I know - This was to be the theme for the day A simple ride plan  -every man for himself to Wollombi - then follow the leader to Mount Sugarloaf  - and don't get lost How hard is that and what more do you need to know - "no we don't have question time at the briefing" the ride commenced well with a nice pace and no roadworks stop at the Bridge But after the bridge we were held up briefly by trucks putting small stones on the road  - to slow us down could be the only reason for the stones then we were escorted by a roadworks pilot ute for some 7 or 8ks or so after we made it past the stoppage - the riding was good with more little stones sections till after Road Warriors then a good pace to Wollombi with ...
