Glen Alice Ride 14th Mar 2024

 Despite the hot weather forecast, 17 riders turned up at Mcgraths Hill and 14 of them made it to lunch.

Due to the road into The Garden of Stone still being closed the destination was changed to Glen Alice in the Capertee Valley.
The ride up to Lithgow was frustratingly slow due to road works and trucks but after smoko at Maccas we had a clear run to the Capertee Valley.
Lunch was at the cafe 'From the Paddock Farm Market' which is worth a visit if you have not been there before.
As I needed to get back to Sydney, I abandoned the group and headed for home. As I pulled out the temperature was a pleasant 38 degrees!
I assume everybody made it home safely with most returning the way we came and some continuing home via Rysltone and Denman.

Pete set off before anyone got the chance to say thanks for a great ride so "Thanks Peter" but next time please reschedule all the hedge trimming on the Bells Line for another day.

  I was the last to arrive at Berowra and found the bikes were clustered together. This only allowed me to park near the driveway. Upon approaching the group, I was promptly told that I had parked in the leader’s spot so I was the leader. Bugga, won’t do that again. I had previously thought that if this were to happen, I should have a destination in mind that I knew well. Ride to Rumbalara Reserve - Sun 15th September

  Three of us (including Newbie Glynn) met at St Ives, set off for PITS Cowan, to find it packed with Classic Cars (how dare they) and teen bikers; we hastily departed, following the Old Road and Into East Gosford, stopping for Coffee n Cake at The Bakery – monstrous “snot-slice” – good coffee, sunshine. Did I mention that the weather was cool/cold, especially if not wearing winter gloves. With wind increasing, we originally found the Walking Path and THEN made use of   “Nellie-Never-Lost” to find Dolly Ave, leading us up, up, up and further UP into Rumbalara Reserve, all the way to the circular drive, then walked around, meeting pioneers Captain Charles Sturt, Sir Charles Kingsford-Smith, and Captain Matthew Flinders – all larger than life-size bronze sculptures. (Edward Eyre was in hiding.) The ride downhill was also pretty exciting, dodging pot-holes, looking out for oncoming traffic on the narrow track –DONE. Kangaroo Valley Ride 20th Mar 2025

  A beautiful autumn day loomed and as I approached Maccas Heathcoate, I was thinking.....there gunna be squillions of riders ready to saddle up and conquer the wonderful roads of the Southern Highland's. That was not to be.....seems the Mexican Syndrome had seriously kicked in.   As it turned out, there was a contingent of 4 lonely Beemers - 2 x GS's and 2 x XR's that departed for Kangaroo Valley via Waterfall, National Park, Mt Kierra, Albion Park, Robbo Pie shop and finally Kangaroo Valley. I had earlier made extensive enquiries of the Kangaroo Valley Tourist Office endeavouring to locate a park with picnic tables as we had previously experienced difficulties in this regard. Anyway a long story short, I located a stop just over the Hampton Bridge on the Kangaroo Village side with Car Parking and 3 Picnic Tables by the river. Southern Highlands Ride 29th Feb 2024

  During the week, Rod had called to discuss the weather and to gear me up for a likely limited turn-up to today's ride.  The forecast was for temps of 39deg. And who wants to ride in that?  Well, four of us did!   When the alotted departure time of  10.00am  arrived, the Heathcote Macca's carpark came alive with the sound of BMW exhausts - three triples and a four-pot with me as ride leader on the RT joined by Tony (with the four-pot XR!) and Peter (GSA) - both having travelled two hours from the Northern Beaches for their McMuffin! And Jeff (on another GS) having travelled a similar distance from The Hills district.   So, a ride with four silly buggers! What could go wrong?  Well, nothing actually! We all left on time, arrived on time, we lost nobody enroute and enjoyed solving real-life issues over coffee (grand-children, siblings, and yes, Trump got a mention!).   There aren't a lot of options for 'fun' heading South so the roads were lar...

Braidwood 2 Day Ride 2-3 Oct 2024

  Hi all and sundry   I am not sure this is politically correct to compose a salutation as I have done. The Oxford Dictionary defines 'Sundry' as "various items not important enough to be mentioned individually". That is certainly not what is intended as there are just too many names to mention, although come to think of it, there may be some applicability...........Stephen. Sorry Stephen, that was uncalled for.....maybe!   Before departing I sought out some expert advice re the weather. My not so trusty BOM app suggested that we may experience a few showers in the morning. That proved to be a lie. Think they have been watching Trumpy too much as we were eventually confronted with showers for most of the day.   11 riders duly assembled at Maccas, McGraths Hill. Shortly after departure, the showers indeed kicked in and did not break until we arrived at Bell. Some smart arse was later heard to mumble.....'it's as clear as a Bell'. A bit sad rea...
