Bulga Ride 9th May 2024

 The ride today was to Bulga

8 riders turned up - half were called “Peter”
Similar to the Oscar acceptance speeches, I thanked the ride committee profusely for understanding that I was geographically challenged & therefore officially categorised as being a disabled ride leader. 
In their wisdom they allocated the most simple ride on the calendar so that I could feel “included’ by the “normal” riders. They calculated that there are only 2 corners on the ride, one at the roundabout at the grassfields & the other 151 km later at the destination. That became the ride briefing.
We didn’t corner mark.
Richo insisted on being TEC.
No rain despite the forecast.
Apart from the anticipated stoppages the Putty was in good shape.
The Greygums was trialling opening on Thursdays. We finished at the Pie without incident.
I'm now worried about leading the Gloucester Glide as I think it has 4 turns!

Ride to Rumbalara Reserve - Sun 15th September

  Three of us (including Newbie Glynn) met at St Ives, set off for PITS Cowan, to find it packed with Classic Cars (how dare they) and teen bikers; we hastily departed, following the Old Road and Into East Gosford, stopping for Coffee n Cake at The Bakery – monstrous “snot-slice” – good coffee, sunshine. Did I mention that the weather was cool/cold, especially if not wearing winter gloves. With wind increasing, we originally found the Walking Path and THEN made use of   “Nellie-Never-Lost” to find Dolly Ave, leading us up, up, up and further UP into Rumbalara Reserve, all the way to the circular drive, then walked around, meeting pioneers Captain Charles Sturt, Sir Charles Kingsford-Smith, and Captain Matthew Flinders – all larger than life-size bronze sculptures. (Edward Eyre was in hiding.) The ride downhill was also pretty exciting, dodging pot-holes, looking out for oncoming traffic on the narrow track –DONE. Vale Geoff Wiltshire

  I have just had a phone call from Geoff's wife Joan to say that Geoff passed away this afternoon. He'd had a mini stroke on Wednesday and was on life support. The family decided to turn off that support today as there was no hope of recovery. There will be a private family funeral but Joan intends to have a memorial celebration in approximately three weeks when we can all celebrate/share our experiences of Geoff's fascinating and interesting life. He was an enthusiastic supporter and tireless worker for the Northern Beaches Branch of the Ulysses Club. I have many happy memories of riding to all sorts of strange places with him. Kangaroo Valley Ride 20th Mar 2025

  A beautiful autumn day loomed and as I approached Maccas Heathcoate, I was thinking.....there gunna be squillions of riders ready to saddle up and conquer the wonderful roads of the Southern Highland's. That was not to be.....seems the Mexican Syndrome had seriously kicked in.   As it turned out, there was a contingent of 4 lonely Beemers - 2 x GS's and 2 x XR's that departed for Kangaroo Valley via Waterfall, National Park, Mt Kierra, Albion Park, Robbo Pie shop and finally Kangaroo Valley. I had earlier made extensive enquiries of the Kangaroo Valley Tourist Office endeavouring to locate a park with picnic tables as we had previously experienced difficulties in this regard. Anyway a long story short, I located a stop just over the Hampton Bridge on the Kangaroo Village side with Car Parking and 3 Picnic Tables by the river. Four Ferries Ride 6th Mar 2025

  Thank You to the 20 riders that braved a potentially challenging weather forecast to join me on the Four Ferries ride that was passed to me by Frosty when he discovered that he had a group of international visitors that would be arriving to see him at that time. Two virgin riders were identified and welcomed in the usual manner. We hope that you enjoyed the ride and company and look forward to seeing you on future rides We departed on time to ride to our morning tea destination of the Historical Ebenezer Church via Berowra and Sackville ferries where the ladies’ auxiliary supplied us with their magnificent Devonshire Tea of scones and coffee or tea. There was a bit of a scuffle to locate cash as eftpos facilities were discovered to be Not Available. At this stage Mark our highly efficient and reliable Tail End Charlie advised that he would be retiring from his duties as the were some issues with his bike that he needed to remedy. Southern Highlands Ride 18th July 2024

Heathcote  - Robertson - Thirlmere - Third Time Lucky!   The weather was just fantastic today. 14deg when we set out from Heathcote; 9deg at Robertson and then a high of 18deg heading back into Sydney. Sunny. Crisp. And not a drop of rain. Or mist. Or fog. Just a fantastic day for a ride!   So . . . with the weather report done with, here's the ride report!   Seven of us set out from Macca's, Heathcote for what was our (my!) third attempt at this ride. That's three years of trying to get this ride done! Seven of us on BMWs (3  x GS's, 1 x XR, 1 x RT), a Yamaha and a KTM. On the two previous occasions we lost people due to poor navigation (or, more accurately, poor following of the ride leader's instructions!) or due to seriously wet weather that had us abandon the ride mid-way through.   But not this time!
