Braidwood 2 Day Ride 2-3 Oct 2024

 Hi all and sundry

I am not sure this is politically correct to compose a salutation as I have done. The Oxford Dictionary defines 'Sundry' as "various items not important enough to be mentioned individually". That is certainly not what is intended as there are just too many names to mention, although come to think of it, there may be some applicability...........Stephen. Sorry Stephen, that was uncalled for.....maybe!

Before departing I sought out some expert advice re the weather. My not so trusty BOM app suggested that we may experience a few showers in the morning. That proved to be a lie. Think they have been watching Trumpy too much as we were eventually confronted with showers for most of the day.

11 riders duly assembled at Maccas, McGraths Hill. Shortly after departure, the showers indeed kicked in and did not break until we arrived at Bell. Some smart arse was later heard to mumble.....'it's as clear as a Bell'. A bit sad really - we suspect the bloke concerned was getting his one liners from the back of a corn flakes packet. Anyways, as mentioned we experienced on and off showers most of the day. This did not dampen our spirits as we ventured onwards to Braidwood via Oberon, Taralga and Goulburn. If you have not ridden the Abercrombie Road, it is certainly worth putting on your bucket list.

As we were about to depart Oberson after lunch, a bunch of Dirties turned up on chook chasers. I mentioned to a couple of blokes that they could have our car parks as we were about to leave. They asked us to hold a second as they had an old bloke about to arrive who was a paraplegic....believe it or not. Anyway, along comes this very senior rider on a chook chaser with his legs strapped to the bike. As he slows, a couple of the Dirties grab him before he hits the deck. Bloody amazing! In fact, we saw them the next day. The Paraplegic bloke was parked up in the middle of nowhere with his side stand down. I think he must have a hand triggering mechanism to lower the side stand somehow. Got to give it to him!

As we arrived at Braidwood, Steve S noticed some of his R1250RT  tupperware was missing. Indeed half of his front guard had disappeared. In addition, he had collected a couple of curves on his front rim that should not have been there. The culprit.....one of the 7324 pot holes around Sodwells!

Dinner that night was at the Royal Hotel. All the usual banter, lies, tall stories and mistruths, but as we know, that is par for the course.

Clutch out at 8:30amthe next day and off we headed for Blaney via Gunning, Bigga and Tuena. Similarly a great bucket list ride.

Lunch at the Bakery at Blaney and as it was getting a little late, we all departed down the highway to Sydney Town via Lithgow and the Bells Line of Road.

Finally. many thanks for the great company. Also a special thanks for all the corner marking efforts and a special thanks to our Rob T for his usual trusty TEC duties.

With kind regards

Wayne
