Frazer Beach Ride 21st Nov 2024
Frazer Beach ride report.
It was a beautiful sunny day with a cool breeze, perfect riding conditions.
Twenty-three bikes, two Harleys and a hysterical Honda gathered at 7-ElevenBerowra. We had one virgin, Dave riding one of the Harleys. He was duly given the clap!! Wayne of the “Long White Cloud” turned up on his new green R1300 GS. Very smart (the bike, not Wayne). Mark volunteered for TEC duties and I stipulated that corner marking was to be observed.
Morning tea was to be partaken of at Jerry’s establishment in Kulnura. As a number of the men in blue and iridescent cars were spotted on the way to Berowra I surmised that there wouldn’t be any on the old road to Jerry’s so a brisk pace was taken. At Calga we took the road towards Somersby and regrouped at Wisemans Ferry Road. The hysterical Honda was overheating so the Dud Cheque took off to cool it down. Andrew of the Tenere said there was some sort of holdup with the riders behind so we all took off and left Kim of the long markers to direct traffic …. when it arrived. Eventually we all made Jerry’s and enjoyed the delights we procured or for the tight-arses brought with us. What a merry bunch we were basking in the late spring sunshine and spouting all kinds of uninformed crap. After a while there was some shuffling and fondling of machinery so I said “Sod it, we’d better get going”. The Dud Cheque said he’d had enough and was taking his hysterical Honda back home to wrap it in cotton wool ready for the knackers yard (Bikesales).
Off we went along Greta road, down Bumble Hill, along Yarramalong Valley and up Hue Hue road to Bushells Ridge road where we turned right. I won’t bore you with the rest of the navigation until we turned right off the Pacific Highway on Elizabeth Bay Drive. This is where the corner marking was critical as there were a lot of corners between there and Frazer Beach. When we got to our destination I was accosted by some riff-raff saying the corner markers were missing. My trusty TEC reported that the corner marking worked perfectly. It seems on further investigation that some smart-arse on a GS from Wangi Wangi decided to take a wrong turn and lead a couple of “sheep” up the garden path and then have the gall to say there were no corner markers!!!
Needless to say everyone arrived safely and after scaring a couple of locals away we all settled down to our gourmet repast and enjoy the beautiful vista from Frazer Beach.
A number of us made it back to the PITS for more bullshit and “discussion” over the corner marking saga.
Thanks to Mark for a sterling job as TEC.
Thanks to everyone who came along and made it a very enjoyable day.
Alan
