Wallarawang Ride 28th Nov 2024

 It seemed like a good day for a ride way out west, so seven of us left for morning tea at Mt Tomah Botanic Garden. Bells Line of Road has numerous sections of newly sealed road between Kurrajong and Bell and numerous signs saying no overtaking on unmarked roadworks. There were no traffic controllers and not much traffic so we could live with that. Morning tea was interesting with some riders looking at their phones to find rain. After morning tea two riders decided to make their way home after being scared off by the BOM radar storm and heavy rain pattern forming to the north and heading east.

That left five of us looking for adventure continuing to Mt Piper via Mt Victoria, Bowenfels, Rydal and Lower Portland, however we lost Andrew at Bowenfels when a mammoth splat on his visor put a stop to going any further but all good when he rang me to ask where we were, he was already at Mt Piper waiting for us. He obviously found a shorter way. It was great riding on some good country roads with the temperature at a pleasant 24 degrees. On arrival at Mt Piper the car park was full, highly unusual I thought, so it was a struggle to find a parking spot for our bikes. Looked like Casanova Bowen was holding some kind of anti-nuclear meeting to turn the whole area into a wind turbine farm.

We left Mt Piper to head back into Lithgow but had to stop and don our wet weather gear as heavy rain could be seen up ahead. The rain came down all the way into Lithgow and on to Bilpin before hitting dry pavement.

Despite some heavy rain for a half an hour it was good riding weather. I trust everyone made it home safely. Thanks to Peter KTM, Andrew Tenere, Richo GS, Peter Harley, Andy Honda and Mark V-Strom for joining us on the ride. I did 310 kms on the Goldwing and was home by 3.30pm.
