Four Ferries Ride 6th Mar 2025
Thank You to the 20 riders that braved a potentially challenging weather forecast to join me on the Four Ferries ride that was passed to me by Frosty when he discovered that he had a group of international visitors that would be arriving to see him at that time.
Two virgin riders were identified and welcomed in the usual manner. We hope that you enjoyed the ride and company and look forward to seeing you on future rides
We departed on time to ride to our morning tea destination of the Historical Ebenezer Church via Berowra and Sackville ferries where the ladies’ auxiliary supplied us with their magnificent Devonshire Tea of scones and coffee or tea. There was a bit of a scuffle to locate cash as eftpos facilities were discovered to be Not Available.
At this stage Mark our highly efficient and reliable Tail End Charlie advised that he would be retiring from his duties as the were some issues with his bike that he needed to remedy. His duties were relieved by our independent supporter TJ. Many thanks to both for ensuring that all arrived at the appropriate destinations.
Originally, I had indicated that St Albans would be the lunch destination, but it was judged to be just a bit too far to arrive at a comfortable hour, so the destination was changed to the riverside park at Wisemans Ferry. A wise choice I believe!
The route was via the Lower Portland Ferry #3 and then up Cliftonville Rd to the main road into Wisemans Ferry.
Donald Trumps recent executive orders were picked over by the assembled riders over lunch. I am not sure that his decisions were met with much joy and elation among the group. Eventually the group disbanded to head for home via either the Wisemans Ferry or a recrossing of the Berowra Ferry thus finally ticking off #4.
A small group arrived at the PITS to finalise discussions to the accompaniment of a non-alcoholic beverage and then head for their homes.
Finally, a thank you to Huey for holding off the rain during our riding time even though there was a reminder whilst we were all sitting under cover that the rain potential existed.
Thanks to all. Jim
