Bulga Ride 15th June 2023

The day dawned crisp and cold, perfect for a ride to Bulga

Peter of the fractured finger had convinced me,  whilst having lunch at Wisemans ferry last Thursday, to lead the ride. 12 riders were enjoying the camaraderie at Mcdonalds Windsor, until I stood up and announced that as Laurent was unable to ride, I would be deputising for him. Morning tea would be at Grey Gums.

Two riders immediately said they would not go very far and would leave the ride early, great encouragement for my second lead. But then Kim said "I will go all the way" Bit puzzled, but I took that as a vote of confidence.

Peter of the braces accepted TEC.

No corner marking needed, as it's very hard to get lost going to Bulga, despite it being over 150k.

All went well until we reached the first roadworks, Andy's trusty steed promptly died. Would not start

Our TEC volunteered to stay with him, whilst he tried to resolve the issue.

Onwards; once we regathered at the next roadworks. Then the ride unfolded the way it was meant too.

Despite some slowdowns for roadworks, that weren't there, just signs. Then with virtually no traffic on the Putty

A really good run to Grey Gums, in pretty quick time, with Ian hot on my tail, no easing up the pace.

Whilst enjoying the idyllic scenery, the perfect weather, the sheer peace and quiet of Grey Gums.

Thinking what a beautiful spot, on a great day for motorcycling.

Andy and then Peter arrived. Andy's kill switch the culprit. Working when it shouldn't.

Once Peter had his Coffee, we were off to complete the journey to Bulga.

First 20 or so k's were great, lovely bends and curves, then we hit roadworks and more roadworks, a 15-minute wait at one, to be escorted through. Then a quick last 10k's.

Finally arrived at Bulga and thought despite the roadworks a great ride, blew out the cobwebs,

Decision made to go the Pie via Broke, Wollombi and Kulnura

The Road between Broke and Wollombi is atrocious, more potholes and patches, than actual road

Thoroughly enjoyed the ride, I hope everybody else did as well,
