Ave Atque Vale Bob Yonge

-

Hi, it's taken me pretty well all day to come to terms. Bob Yonge told me this morning that he will depart this world tomorrow Wednesday. I have known Bob for nigh on 30 years so even though I totally agree and understand his decision it's still came as a a bolt. A lovely respected gentleman who will be sorely missed! He has chosen to die at his home with his family beside him. He said to say hello and goodbye!!!

Wangi Wangi Ride 14th Dec 2023

It was a small, sad-arsed group. But we’ll come back to that.     The morning started off interestingly. We motored off, eight of us, and almost immediately we were arrested. By the police. Of course, we denied everything, dobbed each other in without being asked and in due course, none of us having been found to be intoxicated by anything but the warm weather, were released. Soon the small and grumbling traffic jam we had help create moved on.   Off to Jerries at Kulnara for morning tea, or coffee. Some interesting news from Jerry. His establishment will be closed from next week to the end of January. He, with his family, are off to Vietnam. He has subbed in a catering van, so that coffee will be available but there will be no Portuguese tarts. Jerry was unwillingly entertained as we displayed; excruciatingly, patronisingly, and competitively, our knowledge of the five principal dialects of the Vietnamese language and of our last holiday in Hanoi. Eventually out o...

St Albans Ride 8th Oct 2026

What a great day for a ride, the weather was perfect, my front wheel problems solved and no little piggy’s out to spoil our fun.   Around 15 riders met at Berowra with our tall Irish lad having sent a letter from his mum saying he is going to be late because he has to make his bed. Paul did handstands when I said there was no need for corner marking as we all had travelled our planned route many times.   The old road had. A few cars, I thought they were banned on Thursdays or at least should be. They did not hold us up much and the pace was approved by Andy, who complained of the slow pace on my last lead.   Regroup at Calga where we had the chance to admire the scenery and cool our engines. Peter C had joined us and was being super careful to not bring attention to himself due to his licence issues.   There sadly was a death on a 4 lane wide section before George Mobbs drive, fortunately not one of us but a suicidal Echidna met with the front wheel of one of ...

Broke Ride 4th Sep 2025

Well over 20 riders were eager for the ride to Broke via the PHW but some crazy drivers put and end to that by crashing at Jolls Bridge. Now it was my first lead and many asked me “where to now”!! So after some deliberation we voted to go on the Berowra ferry and then down to Wiseman’s for lunch. Off we went and only lost 5 on the way but we all met for a warm sunny coffee stop to discuss the many issues of life. After quick break a further debate of “so where to now” was resolved to go to Wollombi for lunch as time was slipping by. A fun run and we caught up with a rider (not to be named) who left McGraths Hill and went to Broke then back to Wollombi. Well I think I have experienced all for my first lead and looking for to the next ride. Thanks guys. Geoff

Batemans Bay 2 Day Ride 6-7th August 2026

ride. Everything clicked, no mishaps or misadventures (on the ride anyway) and a safe return home for everybody.   We had 15 booked for the ride, but unfortunately five had to withdraw, three with vehicle issues, one with the dreaded lurgy, and one with family matters to attend to. In fact, we actually had 16 booked for the ride, but one had drafted the email to confirm to me that they were coming, but forgot to press send. Fortunately, we had three late registrations, so ended up with 13 for the ride. Given that two of those who cancelled were sharing, the room configuration did not change for the motel, and they were very happy to have had our custom. Zorbas is a great location right on the waterfront in Batemans Bay, and easy walk to dinner and breakfast.   We had a briefing outlining where we're going, but I'm pretty sure that went in one ear and out the other of everybody there. We welcomed Spencer for his second ride with us, and Mark, who had come down from Port ...

Snowy 4 Day Ride 11-14th Nov 2024

We started out with 19 takers for this ride. Unfortunately we lost Rocket due to a sore neck, and Wayne due to a delayed flight from some where else in the world, so 17 of a set out from Pheasants Nest at 9. 30   on Monday morning .   Do you think it will rain???? We rode the main highway through Marulan and, then turned left to Bungonia and then Tarago for morning coffee. From there it was through Braidwood, down the amazing Public Service Highway to Batemans Bay where we fuelled, and then lunch at Moruya. The afternoon run took us along the Princes Highway until we turned off to follow the coast through Bermagui and Tathra to our destination at Merimbula. Drinks and an excellent dinner  at the RSL club.   Tuesday morning saw us departing Merimbula without Scotty. Something that he had eaten or drank the night before caused him some severe stomach anguish and he felt it would be better not to try the mountain ride. He ended up spending the next night in the s...
