Currarong Ride 11th Apr 2024

9 riders arrived at Maccas Heathcote by 9:30,  more than I had expected

National Park closed at Heathcote station entrance, so that ruled out that route,

Headed off to go along the beaches via Lawrence Hargraves drive, Stanwell Tops and over the Sea Bridge, very scenic, but a slow ride, still very impressive scenery.

Headed up Mt Keira, dappled sunlight into the bends and gravel made it interesting, planned to also go up Mt Kembla, but missed the turn, so onto the M1 to the Jamberoo exit, TEC Peter followed the wrong bikes and rang to say he would catch up at Morning tea, which was at the Ken Irvine Oval in Jamberoo, Nice oval/park great toilets, quite and peaceful.

Finally Peter arrived as we were contemplating leaving. One rider left after morning tea , down to 8

Ride leading is a lot more difficult than just enjoying the ride, one eye on the other riders, one on the road and where we were going. Just using headset with Andy for the 2nd time, great will they worked but went pear shaped after Jamberoo. further distraction. Over Saddleback, a missed turn led us to a detour via Kiama heights.

Round the Bends and left to Gerringong, the spectacular view of Gerroa beach, as you come over the hill and then Gerroa Rd past Seven Mile Beach and onto Bolong Rd. great roads.

Turned left to go over the Nowra Bridge, where another rider decided to go home, as it was a long ride. Turned left onto Moss Rd and thanks to Rod we stayed on course, then a very enjoyable ride about 30k to Currarong.

7 arrived and a great lunch. Rod's Fishermans basket was massive, a family meal.

An animated discussion settled on Bike dealers, warranties, servicing including the merits of KTM and BMW and deciding if Worthington's or ProCycle's was the worst. . Happy I am on my trusty Tracer.

Lunch finished we made our on way home. I arrived at 4:30 after 480k for the day.

In retrospect, more difficult leading, when on some unfamiliar roads, Waze is a problem, as you only have one stop, you can add to your destination. Tried to take me the more direct route.

Thanks to Peter (Braces) for being TEC, nobody got lost, except for the TEC

Thanks also to Rod and Andy for their guidance. Thanks to everybody that made the trip.
