AMCA Event - Bulli Showground, Sat. 24th August

 The Antique Motorcycle Club of America - Australia Inc. runs an annual weekend at Bulli Showground, showcasing all things motorcycling, particularly early American motorcycles. Hundreds of bikes of every make you've ever heard of and many you've not, along with all the historic racing, speedway and marque clubs and associations, displays, swap and sell stands, food trucks and wet bar. This event is well worth the visit despite the 2-hour slog through the city to get there. If you missed it you've missed out for this year, so put it on your Calendar for next year.

Ride to Rumbalara Reserve - Sun 15th September

  Three of us (including Newbie Glynn) met at St Ives, set off for PITS Cowan, to find it packed with Classic Cars (how dare they) and teen bikers; we hastily departed, following the Old Road and Into East Gosford, stopping for Coffee n Cake at The Bakery – monstrous “snot-slice” – good coffee, sunshine. Did I mention that the weather was cool/cold, especially if not wearing winter gloves. With wind increasing, we originally found the Walking Path and THEN made use of   “Nellie-Never-Lost” to find Dolly Ave, leading us up, up, up and further UP into Rumbalara Reserve, all the way to the circular drive, then walked around, meeting pioneers Captain Charles Sturt, Sir Charles Kingsford-Smith, and Captain Matthew Flinders – all larger than life-size bronze sculptures. (Edward Eyre was in hiding.) The ride downhill was also pretty exciting, dodging pot-holes, looking out for oncoming traffic on the narrow track –DONE. Kangaroo Valley Ride 20th Mar 2025

  A beautiful autumn day loomed and as I approached Maccas Heathcoate, I was thinking.....there gunna be squillions of riders ready to saddle up and conquer the wonderful roads of the Southern Highland's. That was not to be.....seems the Mexican Syndrome had seriously kicked in.   As it turned out, there was a contingent of 4 lonely Beemers - 2 x GS's and 2 x XR's that departed for Kangaroo Valley via Waterfall, National Park, Mt Kierra, Albion Park, Robbo Pie shop and finally Kangaroo Valley. I had earlier made extensive enquiries of the Kangaroo Valley Tourist Office endeavouring to locate a park with picnic tables as we had previously experienced difficulties in this regard. Anyway a long story short, I located a stop just over the Hampton Bridge on the Kangaroo Village side with Car Parking and 3 Picnic Tables by the river. UNB Wednesday Explorer Ride - 21st December

 Today was the last UNB Wednesday Explorer ride for 2022. The usual crowd (just we two) decided that coffee-with-a-water-view was the go, so we headed off down to the Akuna Bay Marina Cafe for just that. Here we bumped into Keith B and Mum, doing just the same after a spot of kayaking. All very pleasant. On our return our dedicated Informal Pres. MTC did some necessary roadside signage repairs, and I spied some super-cheap 98 octane at the Terry Hills servo. Everybody happy and enjoying another splendid day on Gods Own Northern Beaches - what more could we want?. And today being the last scheduled UNB ride till 1st January 2023 it's perhaps appropriate at this time to wish all UNB riders, socialites and OlFartz, and also the Midweekers,  a Happy and Safe Festive Season, and keep those brownie-points in hand for more rides in the New Year. West Head and Akuna bay ride 16th August 2025

 It was a beautiful sunny day as four of us met at the St. Ives starting point. Terry Fewell sent his apologies as he had a flat battery (so did his scooter). We headed off down Mona Vale road to the turn-off to McCarrs Creek Road. Taking this turn Bruce (our new member) thought his rough mate from Elanora might be waiting for us there but there was no sign. On we went down McCarrs Creek road to the turn-off for West Head and Akuna Bay where the Park Entry booth is. Suitcase had to fork out $12 for the pleasure of making the trip to West Head and Akuna Bay. The lookout at West Head gave us spectacular views up and down Pittwater and out to sea. Bruce, John, Suitcase and Alan - the usual suspects!! After admiring the views we jumped on our trusty steeds and headed to the Akuna Bay cafe for coffee and refreshments. Much discussion on the state of the world and the clown in the Oval Office took place in the pleasant sunshine. Then we disbursed in all directions to find our way home. V...

PADPAL Ride 18th Jan 2024

  I was the last to arrive at Berowra and found the bikes were clustered together. This only allowed me to park near the driveway. Upon approaching the group, I was promptly told that I had parked in the leader’s spot so I was the leader. Bugga, won’t do that again. I had previously thought that if this were to happen, I should have a destination in mind that I knew well. So proceeded to detail said route when I was interrupted by, “No, we already have a destination”.    Time for the ride briefing, Paul M started to explain the route until he was reminded that he is not leading today. My turn, Morning tea at Dooralong, no need for corner marking. Final destination Millfield. Waze was checked, speed camera at Cowan.
