Southern Highlands Ride 12th March 2026

 Departing Heathcote Macca’s at 10:00am 6 riders (Peter #1, Peter #2, Peter #3 and Peter #4) along with one Dave and one Kieth tracked southward and through the Royal National Park and onto to Stanwell Tops.


The road now is in very good shape after the completion of recent roadworks which hindered our last attempted ride through the National Park.

Maintaining a steady pace down the Princes Highway to the Kiama Blowhole for morning tea where we were faced with blustery and windy conditions on arrival so diverted to the more sheltered and infamous Fish and Chip Cafe located next to the boat ramp.

The weather was being kind to us as we prepared to tackled Jamberoo Road which took us up to the recently renovated Robertson Pie Shop for lunch. Whilst enjoying tradition Robertson delicacies (Potatoes Pies, Potatoes Milk Shakes, Potatoes Finger Buns) there was no need to discuss any worldly affairs as things appear quite normal when you are out and about riding motorbikes.

After lunch Dave S lead the charge back north to Sydney, turning left into Tourist Road at the bottom of the hill, past the Mittagong Airstrip and onto the freeway, then M7 and M2 etc.

Thanks to Peter (of the Blue Harley) for his TEC duties and keeping everyone nicely bunched up and look forward to catching up on our next ride.

  McDonalds McGraths Hill was a hive of activity as 25 or so riders gathered for   a 10.00am   departure for this overnight ride to Scone the long way but a more interesting route. After a short briefing we managed to successfully hightail it out of Windsor and across the grasslands past a mobile camera car not far along on the right-hand side opposite. A quick stop at Kurmond to regroup and it was a nice ride along Bells Line of Road with another mobile camera car and then a lollipop stop and go at Bilpin as workman were clearing vegetation along the roads edge. Roadworks at Mt Tomah held us up momentarily and it was a clear run to Lithgow to regroup just west of McDonalds. The group of 25 bikes seem to have been split up into three groups because of the number of traffic lights getting through the railway town of Lithgow. The first stop was the very impressive Wallerawang Bakery for lunch. The Castlereagh Hwy was a good run with a 5-minute break at the Ilford Rest Area....

Braidwood Ride 25-26th Feb 2016

               The Three Wise Men   With inclement weather in the offering,13 riders set off from McGraths Hill, with one nameless rider mistakenly ready to depart from Pheasants Nest, some 103km away. Scotty & Karen had planned to meet us at Oberon for lunch. A pleasant ride through to Oberon where the full group of 16 assembled, including Pheasants Nest Andrew! It was then a spirited ride down to Trappers Bakery at Goulburn via Shooters Hill. We then routed east to Bungonia and rejoined the main road at Tarago. At this point the dark clouds had moved in and the sky's opened up. Some stopped to put on their wets while others soldiered on to Braidwood. Suffice to say most ended up a little on the damp side.   It was then off to the Royal Hotel for a couple of 'frothy' ones and dinner.   Well, that all went ok. The weather was near perfect. People thrust money into my hands as they arrived at Berowra and we went for a ride. We wandered off down the Old Pacific Highway. This is a lovely road and easy to under-appreciate because we do it so often. Lots of bends and twisty bits, and the added excitement that comes with the impossibility of riding within the speed limit, even, for much of it, if you are on a bicycle.  We are blessed, and Australia is beautiful as you wander through the trees and over the Hawkesbury and past the rich orange-red sandstone cliffs. The colour is almost Trumpesque, but I put that unpleasant thought behind me secure in the knowledge that the cliffs were there a million years BT, and will be there, provided we don’t blow the world up, a million years PT. I thought the following crowd was a bit slow, but that didn’t matter. They’d soon catch up at the multiplicity of roadworks traffic lights placed strategically to frustrate us. Quietly...

  RIDE REPORT – WOLLOMBI – 26/08/2023   Ride Leader : John Osborne An almost perfect day for riding if just a little chilly. At the starting time we had six motorcycles and a Spyder so we headed off on the usual back route through Hornsby, onto the Old Road and stopped at The Pie to pick up any stragglers. Despite an over-abundance of boys in blue w e made good progress from The Pie up to Calga thence Spring Road, Bumble Hill, Yarramalong to a seldom visited smoko stop at the Wyong Dairy. This was an interesting stop with some confusion on the leader’s part as to where to park. The Dairy is a bit of a higgledy piggily sort of place with several different areas, which appear separate, designated for parking but which all are for the same place. After some shopping in the Cheese Shop an enjoyable coffee was time to head off up Hue Hue Road through Freemans Waterhole to the Sandy Creek Road turnoff to Quorrobolong/Wollombi where I decided to regroup for the run to lunch....

Mudgee 2 Day Ride Report 21-22nd May 2025

  18 odd seasoned riders enthusiastically departed McGraths Hill   at 9:30am  determined to make the best of the inclement weather conditions. Off to Lithgow for morning tea, all arrived slightly damp due to the precipitation along the way. Next to Macca’s Kelso, via Tarana for lunch where a couple of riders refuelled before journeying towards Mudgee, the diversion to Hill End was cancelled as it was thought to be better to arrive in Mudgee sooner rather than later…also allowing more time at the Oriental Hotel and prepare for the traditional dinner. Next morning plan B needed to be evoked because the snow ploughs were being prepared in anticipation of further rain and a number of roads back to Sydney were already suspect with lots of water making riding conditions challenging.
