Burragorang Ride 25th June 2026

 Report from ride today.

Well 3 Peters first turned up ready for a ride (based on the weather forecast you could hardly call them 3 wise men!) then Brian and Andrew. So 5 jolly riders started the ride under foreboding skies… all went smoothly but by the time we arrived at morning tea smoko the skies decided it was time to confirm the adverse forecast. Two riders got wise and decided to high tail it from there whilst the 3 remaining riders continued to Burragorang lookout. Lookout in words, as it was completely covered in rain cloud but one could imagine the views on a good day would be pretty spectacular, just not today. By this time the rain had set in and it was jointly decided to high tail it home. Great roads and in dry conditions would be a lot of fun. Hope all arrived home safely, ready for hopefully a dry ride next week..

Kangaroo Valley Ride 20th Mar 2025

  A beautiful autumn day loomed and as I approached Maccas Heathcoate, I was thinking.....there gunna be squillions of riders ready to saddle up and conquer the wonderful roads of the Southern Highland's. That was not to be.....seems the Mexican Syndrome had seriously kicked in.   As it turned out, there was a contingent of 4 lonely Beemers - 2 x GS's and 2 x XR's that departed for Kangaroo Valley via Waterfall, National Park, Mt Kierra, Albion Park, Robbo Pie shop and finally Kangaroo Valley. I had earlier made extensive enquiries of the Kangaroo Valley Tourist Office endeavouring to locate a park with picnic tables as we had previously experienced difficulties in this regard. Anyway a long story short, I located a stop just over the Hampton Bridge on the Kangaroo Village side with Car Parking and 3 Picnic Tables by the river. Not the Megalong Valley Ride 30th April 2026

    15 riders gathered at McDonalds, McGraths Hill, with little idea where where they were going! After the Megalong Valley ride was scuttled by a collapse on Victoria Pass, several replacements were considered. The winner  was a ride via the Grass Farms, Kurmond, Comleroy Rd. through to Sackville Ferry, Wisemans Ferry, Spencer and Mangrove mountain. Concensus then took us to Somersby and the the full length of the 'Old Road'. It was pretty slow through the Grass Farms, partially due to the ride being very spread out. After gathering at Kurmond we followed Comleroy Rd and then Bull Ridge Rd. through to Sackville Ferry where a flight of swallows put on an aerial display, missing me by less than 30cms. several times. We were again spread out on the way to Wisemans Ferry for morning tea. The run up to Mangrove Mountain (I have always wondered where the mountain is?) was stopped 3 times due to roadworks but otherwise, it was a clear run.  Maybe the police gave tacit appr...

Ride to Rumbalara Reserve - Sun 15th September

  Three of us (including Newbie Glynn) met at St Ives, set off for PITS Cowan, to find it packed with Classic Cars (how dare they) and teen bikers; we hastily departed, following the Old Road and Into East Gosford, stopping for Coffee n Cake at The Bakery – monstrous “snot-slice” – good coffee, sunshine. Did I mention that the weather was cool/cold, especially if not wearing winter gloves. With wind increasing, we originally found the Walking Path and THEN made use of   “Nellie-Never-Lost” to find Dolly Ave, leading us up, up, up and further UP into Rumbalara Reserve, all the way to the circular drive, then walked around, meeting pioneers Captain Charles Sturt, Sir Charles Kingsford-Smith, and Captain Matthew Flinders – all larger than life-size bronze sculptures. (Edward Eyre was in hiding.) The ride downhill was also pretty exciting, dodging pot-holes, looking out for oncoming traffic on the narrow track –DONE. Vale Geoff Wiltshire

  I have just had a phone call from Geoff's wife Joan to say that Geoff passed away this afternoon. He'd had a mini stroke on Wednesday and was on life support. The family decided to turn off that support today as there was no hope of recovery. There will be a private family funeral but Joan intends to have a memorial celebration in approximately three weeks when we can all celebrate/share our experiences of Geoff's fascinating and interesting life. He was an enthusiastic supporter and tireless worker for the Northern Beaches Branch of the Ulysses Club. I have many happy memories of riding to all sorts of strange places with him. Broke Ride 4th Sep 2025

 Well over 20 riders were eager for the ride to Broke via the PHW but some crazy drivers put and end to that by crashing at Jolls Bridge. Now it was my first lead and many asked me “where to now”!! So after some deliberation we voted to go on the Berowra ferry and then down to Wiseman’s for lunch. Off we went and only lost 5 on the way but we all met for a warm sunny coffee stop to discuss the many issues of life. After quick break a further debate of “so where to now” was resolved to go to Wollombi for lunch as time was slipping by. A fun run and we caught up with a rider (not to be named) who left McGraths Hill and went to Broke then back to Wollombi. Well I think I have experienced all for my first lead and looking for to the next ride. Thanks guys. Geoff
