Two Pies Ride - Saturday 13th May

 Today's ride planned to visit both "Pie in the Sky's" - at Bilpin and Berowra.

Only three starters and a few showers about, so agreed to only go to one "Pie" - at Berowra.

Pretty quiet on the roads today, not too many bikes about. Arrived at PITS and chat with Terry, Tim, Paulette and Edwin, MTC and John W.

Had a very nice apple pie with ice cream, and bought two pies to go. 

That's three pies, I suppose... Home via Bobbin Head. Wow! Meat pie for lunch. Yay!

Not the Megalong Valley Ride 30th April 2026

    15 riders gathered at McDonalds, McGraths Hill, with little idea where where they were going! After the Megalong Valley ride was scuttled by a collapse on Victoria Pass, several replacements were considered. The winner  was a ride via the Grass Farms, Kurmond, Comleroy Rd. through to Sackville Ferry, Wisemans Ferry, Spencer and Mangrove mountain. Concensus then took us to Somersby and the the full length of the 'Old Road'. It was pretty slow through the Grass Farms, partially due to the ride being very spread out. After gathering at Kurmond we followed Comleroy Rd and then Bull Ridge Rd. through to Sackville Ferry where a flight of swallows put on an aerial display, missing me by less than 30cms. several times. We were again spread out on the way to Wisemans Ferry for morning tea. Kangaroo Valley Ride 20th Mar 2025

  A beautiful autumn day loomed and as I approached Maccas Heathcoate, I was thinking.....there gunna be squillions of riders ready to saddle up and conquer the wonderful roads of the Southern Highland's. That was not to be.....seems the Mexican Syndrome had seriously kicked in.   As it turned out, there was a contingent of 4 lonely Beemers - 2 x GS's and 2 x XR's that departed for Kangaroo Valley via Waterfall, National Park, Mt Kierra, Albion Park, Robbo Pie shop and finally Kangaroo Valley. I had earlier made extensive enquiries of the Kangaroo Valley Tourist Office endeavouring to locate a park with picnic tables as we had previously experienced difficulties in this regard. Anyway a long story short, I located a stop just over the Hampton Bridge on the Kangaroo Village side with Car Parking and 3 Picnic Tables by the river. Ride to Rumbalara Reserve - Sun 15th September

  Three of us (including Newbie Glynn) met at St Ives, set off for PITS Cowan, to find it packed with Classic Cars (how dare they) and teen bikers; we hastily departed, following the Old Road and Into East Gosford, stopping for Coffee n Cake at The Bakery – monstrous “snot-slice” – good coffee, sunshine. Did I mention that the weather was cool/cold, especially if not wearing winter gloves. With wind increasing, we originally found the Walking Path and THEN made use of   “Nellie-Never-Lost” to find Dolly Ave, leading us up, up, up and further UP into Rumbalara Reserve, all the way to the circular drive, then walked around, meeting pioneers Captain Charles Sturt, Sir Charles Kingsford-Smith, and Captain Matthew Flinders – all larger than life-size bronze sculptures. (Edward Eyre was in hiding.) The ride downhill was also pretty exciting, dodging pot-holes, looking out for oncoming traffic on the narrow track –DONE. Vale Geoff Wiltshire

  I have just had a phone call from Geoff's wife Joan to say that Geoff passed away this afternoon. He'd had a mini stroke on Wednesday and was on life support. The family decided to turn off that support today as there was no hope of recovery. There will be a private family funeral but Joan intends to have a memorial celebration in approximately three weeks when we can all celebrate/share our experiences of Geoff's fascinating and interesting life. He was an enthusiastic supporter and tireless worker for the Northern Beaches Branch of the Ulysses Club. I have many happy memories of riding to all sorts of strange places with him.   I was the last to arrive at Berowra and found the bikes were clustered together. This only allowed me to park near the driveway. Upon approaching the group, I was promptly told that I had parked in the leader’s spot so I was the leader. Bugga, won’t do that again. I had previously thought that if this were to happen, I should have a destination in mind that I knew well. So proceeded to detail said route when I was interrupted by, “No, we already have a destination”.    Time for the ride briefing, Paul M started to explain the route until he was reminded that he is not leading today. My turn, Morning tea at Dooralong, no need for corner marking. Final destination Millfield. Waze was checked, speed camera at Cowan.
