Two Pies Ride - Saturday 13th May

 Today's ride planned to visit both "Pie in the Sky's" - at Bilpin and Berowra.

Only three starters and a few showers about, so agreed to only go to one "Pie" - at Berowra.

Pretty quiet on the roads today, not too many bikes about. Arrived at PITS and chat with Terry, Tim, Paulette and Edwin, MTC and John W.

Had a very nice apple pie with ice cream, and bought two pies to go. 

That's three pies, I suppose... Home via Bobbin Head. Wow! Meat pie for lunch. Yay!

  With a crystal blue sky and not a cloud in sight, what better than a trip to the beach. Except the fur seals were shivering with the cold, so it was down to 22 intrepid Thursday Riders to venture out to Norah Head with varying degrees of insulation between themselves and the self induced 100 kph wind chill.   We took the Old Road to Somersby and then on to Jerry’s for morning tea. Rather fortuitously, just as we were finishing up there, two marked and a possible third unmarked police car rolled into the car park. Unfortunately there wasn’t time for a chat, so we all left in a very orderly and law abiding way with the thought that the road ahead should be free of licence endangering encounters.   And so it proved to be as we traversed Bumble Hill and took the long roads back to the coast - Yarramalong, Dooralong and Mandalong. Rylestone Ride 22-23rd July 2026

  We should ride every Wednesday. The weather was perfect. 17 Cowpersons (there were 2 cowgirls and 15 cowboys) headed out of Berowra, north toward Wollombi. As well as an early springtime, paranoia was in the air as we passed, unhindered as it turned out, through the speed traps and patrol cars on the Old Highway before stopping at Jerry’s for coffee.     A lovely run through Wollombi, and via the Martindale back road into Denman for lunch. Next the Bylong Valley Way, wonderfully green and picturesque with cattle standing like statues and at that lolling speed which is quick but leisurely. This is a classic motorcycling road. Then on to Rylstone, and the World-famous Globe Hotel.   The Globe describes itself as 3 star, but that is not quite true. Let me get to that. The rooms are small; a bit bigger than a ‘phone box with thermodynamic construction to keep them cold in winter and hot in summer, and with a shared and distant bathroom. Mudgee 2 Day Ride Report 21-22nd May 2025

  18 odd seasoned riders enthusiastically departed McGraths Hill   at 9:30am  determined to make the best of the inclement weather conditions. Off to Lithgow for morning tea, all arrived slightly damp due to the precipitation along the way. Next to Macca’s Kelso, via Tarana for lunch where a couple of riders refuelled before journeying towards Mudgee, the diversion to Hill End was cancelled as it was thought to be better to arrive in Mudgee sooner rather than later…also allowing more time at the Oriental Hotel and prepare for the traditional dinner. Next morning plan B needed to be evoked because the snow ploughs were being prepared in anticipation of further rain and a number of roads back to Sydney were already suspect with lots of water making riding conditions challenging. Glen Davis Ride 12th Feb 2026

We had 15 riders join us for an early   start at 9:30 , with 14 making it all the way to Glen Davis despite some showers along the way. Naturally the rain stopped as soon as Rod pulled in to put is rain jacket on!   Smoko was at Maccas in Lithgow and lunch was in the picnic area in Glen Davis.  Most of the riders stopped on the way home for a break at the Fruit Bowl in Bilpin where Frosty arrived in his car, having been on a sightseeing tour of the Blue Mountains. Another great ride and the road from Capertee to Glen Davis is in overall very good condition despite a few pot holes that were well marked by painted circles. Ave Atque Vale Bob Yonge

  Hi, it's taken me pretty well all day to come to terms. Bob Yonge told me this morning that he will depart this world tomorrow Wednesday. I have known Bob for nigh on 30 years so even though I totally agree and understand his decision it's still came as a a bolt. A lovely respected gentleman who will be sorely missed! He has chosen to die at his home with his family beside him. He said to say hello and goodbye!!! Erica
