Summerland Point Ride 11th May 2023
Summerland Point
I was looking forward to a good ride, in the pack, when accosted by the allocated leader, who, keen to enhance his credentials with the traffic police, had gathered an inordinate amount of points recently, and was looking for a replacement. After discussion and the promise of free coffee and cake for future rides, I was tempted to comply.
The route was from Berowra, the full length of the old road, Dog Track road then morning tea at a clearing in The Strickland State Forest. All went relatively well until the return from the picnic area where the last 2 riders, who came that way 30 mins before, turned right instead of left. After an undue wait, the corner marker just after the bridge over the highway was heard to mutter 'sod 'em' and promptly chased the pack.
A good run was had to Mangrove Mountain, Bumble Hill, Yarramalong road and then a stop at the bottom of the Hue Hue to wait for the majority of the pack who were spread throughout the valley After about 15 minutes wait, when most riders had joined us, we set off to Bushells Ridge Rd then the Pacific Highway. Everyone reached the Pacific Highway except for 3, which may be considered an acceptable loss from 16 starters!!
Unfortunately, at the Pacific Highway a warning light came on for my rear tyre pressure so I left the ride to 'pressure up'. That however requires a working air pressure supply at a garage! Finally after lunch at the garage I can recommend the Rocky Creek pressure pump which runs off power from the bike.
Hopefully the riders who made Summerland Point had a great ride to the PITS and then home.
Cheers
Paul
