Morpeth Ride 17th July 2025

 Morpeth Ride report.

Alan Bateman was scheduled to lead the Ride to Morpeth.

 

I received a call from Alan on Tuesday - saying he was very unwell and would I swap my ride day for his.

 

That sounded like an opportunity -  swapping my pretty easy ride for his quite complex ride

 

Alan had done the recon and sent me the route to upload into my GPS

 

couldn't be easier

 

there were over 20 eager riders ready for a good day on the road

 

I did the briefing mentioning the proposed route, and introducing a new rider Wayne - another Kawasaki brother.

 

All started well till we got to Somersby and the GPS took me left towards Spring road and the Triangle - instead of right towards the highway - which was Alan's plan

 

After some help from KTM Peter, we eventually got back on track and made it to Dooralong for morning tea.

 

A few riders left us at Dooralong and the GPS then took the rest of us to Morpeth

 

no incidents to report, I don't think we lost anyone - a few Boys in Blue heading the other direction that didn't bother us

 

so pretty uneventful

 

After a fresh start to the day it warmed up quite well for a good day out

 

Thanks to Alan for the planning, KTM Peter for the assistance and Peter with the braces for being the ever reliable TEC

  With a cloud free sky and a cool morning, riders gathered at McGraths Hill Maccas for what promised to be 'a good run' The programmed ride to Glen Alice had unfortunately been changed as there was no response to several messages left for Glen Alice Paddock Cafe, so. I was not sure we could gain access.. All went well until we were on The Bells Line of road where we found heavy trucks and a slow run up to The ZigZag railway. Around Mount Tomah I had noticed a blue sign mentioning that work was being undertaken on the road at Victoria Pass, hence the trucks. This situation caused the riders to 'string out' slowing progress,.which improved after Lithgow with a good run up to Capertee.   The road to Glen Davis has been resurfaced in parts, but not all the gravel removed, causing some 'drift' on one corner. Sausage Sizzle at Bunnings Belrose - 12th November 2022

We had a pretty good day on Saturday 12th November. We had the EFTPOS working and had sales of $902 through it.  Thanks go to Graeme Andrews,  Margaret Hogge, Danny Stasenka, Rob McMurray, Neil Simpson,  Mark Witanowski, Erica Sutton, Edwin Davidson, John Warner, Brett Pieper, Ken Miller, Michael Richardson, Terry Fewell and Kevin Hardy for all their hard work on the day. It was very much appreciated.  Thanks also to John Warner, Danny and Terry for the use of their eskies, thanks to Kevin Hardy for picking up the bread, Rob McMurray for picking up the sausages and to Danny for storing the eskies at his place after the clean up.  Here are the official results:  Cash Sales $1,549.95  Mobile Payments $902.00  Total Sales $2,451.95  Cost of Sales $928.70  Net Profit $1,523.25  This is $563 more than 5 March 2022.  Costs were up by $224. Berowra PADPAL Ride 29th Feb 2024

  With temperatures expected to soar during the day the 9 riders at Berowra were under no illusions regarding the ride comfort wise, it was already quite warm at 9:30am. The suggestion was made of a ride to Spencer via Ebenezer Church on the basis that there was shade at the church and some shade along River and Wisemans Ferry roads. It also should result in a loop to the Pie in time to escape the worst of the heat. Ah the best laid plans of mice and men eh! Naturally the suggestor had other things planned so couldn’t possibly lead such a ride and since I had managed to avoid leading for at least a couple of weeks I put my hand up. Clearly I had learned nothing from the last hot day ride I was on which involved ferries. Anyway, the ride group was all experienced Thursday Riders who knew where Ebenezer Church and Spencer were so I announced a TEC (thanks Alan) to gather up any stragglers but no corner marking because sitting stationary out in the heat just wasn’t on.
