Braidwood Ride 25-26th Feb 2016
The Three Wise Men
With inclement weather in the offering,13 riders set off from McGraths Hill, with one nameless rider mistakenly ready to depart from Pheasants Nest, some 103km away. Scotty & Karen had planned to meet us at Oberon for lunch. A pleasant ride through to Oberon where the full group of 16 assembled, including Pheasants Nest Andrew! It was then a spirited ride down to Trappers Bakery at Goulburn via Shooters Hill. We then routed east to Bungonia and rejoined the main road at Tarago. At this point the dark clouds had moved in and the sky's opened up. Some stopped to put on their wets while others soldiered on to Braidwood. Suffice to say most ended up a little on the damp side.
It was then off to the Royal Hotel for a couple of 'frothy' ones and dinner. I was glad to see Bangers and Rissoles featured on the Gordon Blue menu. I had phoned Nina a week earlier to make a booking for 16. Whilst consuming a Carlton Black (no this is not a racial dispersion, rather it is a dark beer!), I was approach by this young lady with an enticing smile and come to bed eyes. This was Nina! I must say she was quite well endowed and was not afraid to display her beguiling wares. I instantly thought I had died and ended up in Hooters Heaven! My mind raced as Nina seductively proceeded to take advantage of me. It was at this point I sadly woke from my erotic fantasy. My mate Stephen had given me a sharp jab in the ribs that deflated any remaining amorous thoughts I had. He rudely announced that my triplet of Bangers had arrived. Instead of the alluring Nina, I was surrounded by 14 crusty ol blokes, with the only consolation being that we were at least graced by the presence of the lovely Karen. Of course, all of these unwelcome thoughts removed any last remaining vestiges of the seductive Nina from my mind.
Day two, we headed to Gunning where we had morning tea at the fantastic Merino Cafe. Well worth a visit if you are down that way. We then proceeded north via Tuena and Trunkey Creek and up to Perthville where we topped up the fuel and consumed some unsavory snacks from the servo - not recommended!. It was then onwards to South Bowenfels for a final fuel and donned out wets as the rain had decided to set in. Pretty much rained all the way home from there.
I knocked up 963km door to door. Hope you all enjoyed the ride and special thanks to Stephen and Peter W for their TEC duties.
Until next time, keep your shiny side up!
Wayne
