Ebenezer Ride 7th May 2016

 Well it was a cool morning but 17 eager souls turned up for this short ride. There were two newbies (Brian and John) who were given the obligatory “clap”. One rider advised that there was a mobile speed camera up past Berowra, but that didn’t faze this group as we were heading down to the ferry. I was contacted by Andrew that he would be doing us at Wylde and Northern Road.

Everyone except one (said it was cold and wasn’t wearing the right gear) crossed over the ferry and with good corner marking and excellent work by our TEC we arrived at Wiseman’s for coffee.
Our next destination of Ebenezer had a variety of route options which I put forward to the group.
1. Cross Webbs Ferry then onto Bi-Centenarary road, which is gravel, hair pins and tasks a plenty 2. River Road which is narrow, twisty and mossy in parts 3. Back up Wiseman’s Ferry Road to Maroota then down to Lower Portland FerryNeedless to say it was a resounding YES to Maroota (but I am sure if Peter KTM and Rod M were here they would opt for the Bi-Cent route - maybe on another day) Well Wayne high tailed it off on the ferry to Spencer (anticipating a potential warranty claim) and a couple headed home up the WF road. When we got onto the Lower Portland Ferry all seemed to be good, until leaving. Alan could not start his GS he acquired from Wayne, so the group had to push his bike off the ferry with Alan considering placing a warranty claim, as this has happened before.
Finally everyone made it for scones and tea and with beautiful weather all other issues were forgotten. A bit like Danny at the start when he bought petrol and forgot his wallet, so Alan helped out.
Shows we can all help each other for a fun and enjoyable day on the motorcycles.

Ride to Rumbalara Reserve - Sun 15th September

  Three of us (including Newbie Glynn) met at St Ives, set off for PITS Cowan, to find it packed with Classic Cars (how dare they) and teen bikers; we hastily departed, following the Old Road and Into East Gosford, stopping for Coffee n Cake at The Bakery – monstrous “snot-slice” – good coffee, sunshine. Did I mention that the weather was cool/cold, especially if not wearing winter gloves. With wind increasing, we originally found the Walking Path and THEN made use of   “Nellie-Never-Lost” to find Dolly Ave, leading us up, up, up and further UP into Rumbalara Reserve, all the way to the circular drive, then walked around, meeting pioneers Captain Charles Sturt, Sir Charles Kingsford-Smith, and Captain Matthew Flinders – all larger than life-size bronze sculptures. (Edward Eyre was in hiding.) The ride downhill was also pretty exciting, dodging pot-holes, looking out for oncoming traffic on the narrow track –DONE. Vale Geoff Wiltshire

  I have just had a phone call from Geoff's wife Joan to say that Geoff passed away this afternoon. He'd had a mini stroke on Wednesday and was on life support. The family decided to turn off that support today as there was no hope of recovery. There will be a private family funeral but Joan intends to have a memorial celebration in approximately three weeks when we can all celebrate/share our experiences of Geoff's fascinating and interesting life. He was an enthusiastic supporter and tireless worker for the Northern Beaches Branch of the Ulysses Club. I have many happy memories of riding to all sorts of strange places with him. Kangaroo Valley Ride 20th Mar 2025

  A beautiful autumn day loomed and as I approached Maccas Heathcoate, I was thinking.....there gunna be squillions of riders ready to saddle up and conquer the wonderful roads of the Southern Highland's. That was not to be.....seems the Mexican Syndrome had seriously kicked in.   As it turned out, there was a contingent of 4 lonely Beemers - 2 x GS's and 2 x XR's that departed for Kangaroo Valley via Waterfall, National Park, Mt Kierra, Albion Park, Robbo Pie shop and finally Kangaroo Valley. I had earlier made extensive enquiries of the Kangaroo Valley Tourist Office endeavouring to locate a park with picnic tables as we had previously experienced difficulties in this regard. Anyway a long story short, I located a stop just over the Hampton Bridge on the Kangaroo Village side with Car Parking and 3 Picnic Tables by the river. Four Ferries Ride 6th Mar 2025

  Thank You to the 20 riders that braved a potentially challenging weather forecast to join me on the Four Ferries ride that was passed to me by Frosty when he discovered that he had a group of international visitors that would be arriving to see him at that time. Two virgin riders were identified and welcomed in the usual manner. We hope that you enjoyed the ride and company and look forward to seeing you on future rides We departed on time to ride to our morning tea destination of the Historical Ebenezer Church via Berowra and Sackville ferries where the ladies’ auxiliary supplied us with their magnificent Devonshire Tea of scones and coffee or tea. There was a bit of a scuffle to locate cash as eftpos facilities were discovered to be Not Available. At this stage Mark our highly efficient and reliable Tail End Charlie advised that he would be retiring from his duties as the were some issues with his bike that he needed to remedy. Mt Piper Ride 4th Dec 2025

  Last time I visited Mt Piper it was a big wheel in the NSW power supply. Today it represents only about 1/3 of the total. Wind and solar are now the predominant energy sources in NSW. Mt Piper is scheduled to play a support role rather than the base load role it had played in the past. A fascinating view into the past! 17 riders arrived at Macca’s Vineyard for the ride to the historical Mt Piper Power Station. Situated between Portland and Wallerawang, there were a number of possible routes to the well supported visitor’s area, I selected the one that would get everyone there without the need to spend time on the gravel. I was hopeful that we would see all at the destination. It was not to be so. We lost one rider before we even left the Macca’s. Rob T had seniors moment stepping off his bike at the refuelling garage so now we were down to 16.
