Kiama Ride 21st May 2026

 Yesterdays ride down south to Kiama had perfect weather for riding, around 19 degrees and sunny. Hardly any cars on the road and we moved along briskly, National Park, Old Highway, Mount Kembla which is now closed by a chained gate….so u turn down Mount Kiera to Jamberoo for smoko.

Thoughtful conversation ensued about divisions 296 and 855 of the Income Tax Assessment Act. Lots of discussion about the recent budget, no discussion about dodgy motorcycles or dealers, financial matters consumed the conversation.

 

Then up to Saddleback Mountain lookout, quick run down to Kiama Marina for fish n chips, we all left together, all but two of us diverted on the way home for some more National Park, quick stop at a very windy Bald Hill.

 

It was a nice day out, thanks to those on the ride.

McMahons Lookout dirt ride - Sunday 18th August

 A recce trip was carried out ( by car ) in the week preceding this ride and the judgement was that the dirt road from near Lincoln's Rock Lookout to the McMahons Lookout carpark ( 38 kms return ) was "marginal" ( i.e. chopped up, gutters and pot-holes ).  The pop-up page on the Calendar Event was  amended accordingly, and as a result on the morning of 18th August I had three "starters", none of whom were interested in riding on the dirt, but who wanted a ride anyway. Accordingly we headed off in the general direction of the Blue Mountains via Yarramundi, and some time later found ourselves having an early lunch in the park at Glenbrook, consuming various delicacies from the local Bakery and watching a southerly change and low clouds coming in over the Mountains and threatening to make our afternoon dampish. Lostock Dam Ride 18th June 2026

Thursday Locstock Dam Ride report from the stand-in ride leader.  Allan Scott was to lead but injured himself on Monday.  Whilst sitting on the toilet reading an article on his phone, his leg went to sleep so as he stood up, he fell down.  Sprained right ankle, sore knee and hip.  Allan said the article was very interesting, Stephen suggested he was looking at porn, Danny is thinking of designing a seat belt and my opinion is he was looking the Bank Statement and fainted.  Anyway .... on with the ride.   I was alerted  at 9:37am  that the ride should have left  at 9:30am .  Sorry about that.  Steve Sampson kindly offered to be TEC.  We got under way from Berowra, down the Old Road to Somersby.  Onto the freeway for a short stint to Wyong and along Old Maitland Road, past the triangle, up Hue Hue Road and turned onto Jilliby Road.  I was sure that was the corner Frosty corner marked for me.  Nice run through Jilli...

Broke Ride 4th Sep 2025

 Well over 20 riders were eager for the ride to Broke via the PHW but some crazy drivers put and end to that by crashing at Jolls Bridge. Now it was my first lead and many asked me “where to now”!! So after some deliberation we voted to go on the Berowra ferry and then down to Wiseman’s for lunch. Off we went and only lost 5 on the way but we all met for a warm sunny coffee stop to discuss the many issues of life. After quick break a further debate of “so where to now” was resolved to go to Wollombi for lunch as time was slipping by. A fun run and we caught up with a rider (not to be named) who left McGraths Hill and went to Broke then back to Wollombi. Well I think I have experienced all for my first lead and looking for to the next ride. Thanks guys. Geoff

PADPAL from Berowra 23rd April 2026

  With so many on the "Not the Mudgee Ride" it was left to 6 riders to start the PADPAL. I say start as we dropped riders along the way. Plan was for smoko at Ebenezer Church on the banks of the Hawkesbury River, then onto Grey Gums for lunch. All went well, we even found Halcrows Rd off Cattai Ridge Rd as there are major road works at the intersection. As ride leader I arrived in 3rd place even though we were on the same Sackville Ferry trip. Lots of talk was had along with scones and tea - a great way to enjoy the company and day. A mutiny was had where the group decided to change the lunch destination, whereby as leader I objected and required the mutineers to go through leadership for any changes. Okay, we agreed to change to Wisemans Ferry for lunch. But only 3 headed that way, losing 2 at the church and another at Wisemans Ferry Rd - they had other interests. PADPAL Ride 21st May 2026

  It was a beautiful sunny morning in Berowra where I made the mistake of of suggesting a route and as a result was designated ride leader.  There were a dozen brave souls trusting me to find my way and thanks to Brian (who was immediately behind me ) giving me blinker signals we made it without mishap. It’s not like it was a complicated route. But I’m often lost as soon as I leave my street. So we went up the old road and out for morning tea at Mangrove Mountain. Then through Spencer and on to Wisemans ferry for lunch.  It was a very pleasant and spirited ride which all seemed to enjoy.
