PADPAL Ride 21st May 2026

 It was a beautiful sunny morning in Berowra where I made the mistake of of suggesting a route and as a result was designated ride leader. 

There were a dozen brave souls trusting me to find my way and thanks to Brian (who was immediately behind me ) giving me blinker signals we made it without mishap.

It’s not like it was a complicated route. But I’m often lost as soon as I leave my street.

So we went up the old road and out for morning tea at Mangrove Mountain. Then through Spencer and on to Wisemans ferry for lunch. 

It was a very pleasant and spirited ride which all seemed to enjoy.

  Oops I’ve had another seniors moment…..forgot all about submitting my ride report until I was awaken at 5am this morning thinking about my early onset something or other and the effects of such!   Anyway it started out a beautiful day, the sun was shinning, the Birds were singing, the Bees were buzzing and the hills were alive with the sound of music……hmmmm not really sure Julie Andrew’s is a good fit for a knarly bunch of hard arsed motorcyclists.   Anyway seven candidates rocked up to Maccas Heathcoate. Southern Highlands Ride 12th March 2026

  Departing Heathcote Macca’s   at 10:00am   6 riders (Peter #1, Peter #2, Peter #3 and Peter #4) along with one Dave and one Kieth tracked southward and through the Royal National Park and onto to Stanwell Tops. The road now is in very good shape after the completion of recent roadworks which hindered our last attempted ride through the National Park. Maintaining a steady pace down the Princes Highway to the Kiama Blowhole for morning tea where we were faced with blustery and windy conditions on arrival so diverted to the more sheltered and infamous Fish and Chip Cafe located next to the boat ramp. The weather was being kind to us as we prepared to tackled Jamberoo Road which took us up to the recently renovated Robertson Pie Shop for lunch. Whilst enjoying tradition Robertson delicacies (Potatoes Pies, Potatoes Milk Shakes, Potatoes Finger Buns) there was no need to discuss any worldly affairs as things appear quite normal when you are out and about riding motorbikes. Sunday 23rd June 2024 - Kitchener Hotel Ride that wasn't!!!

 There were four hardy members of the NBUC at St. Ives, three in tintops and one on an actual motorbike!!! The weather forecast was pretty bad. One tintop came because he had broken a fetlock, one tintop came because she was waiting for parts for her trusty stead and one tintop came because he was the ride leader and was hoping nobody would be mad enough to come on a motorbike on such a lousy day. The four hardy members had coffee and chatted happily until it was time to go home!!! Thank you Margaret (tintop 1), Geoff (tintop 2) and Peter (motorbike) for keeping me company. Cheers Alan

Pokolbin Ride 27th Aug 2026

When I left home, the sun was shining, the birds were singing, and the kookaburras were laughing. I soon realised why they were laughing. By the time i reached Berowra, the sky was looking rather ominous — the sort of clouds that suggest someone upstairs had just filled a bucket and was deciding where to tip it. Thankfully, the rain held off. We had about 17 riders turn up, which was a bloody good effort considering the weather forecast. Clearly, none of us had anything better to do. We headed off towards Jerry's for morning tea, where I decided to set a nice, firm pace. At least, I thought it was a nice, firm pace. All I could see behind me were headlights. "I'm obviously going too slow," I thought. Either that, or everyone had decided to keep an eye on the old bloke in front in case he got lost. UNB New Year's Day "Road To Nowhere" Ride Report

 A long day planned - 480 kms - for our annual UNB Shooters Hill "Road to Nowhere" ride today. 8am start from St Ives and a cool and cloudy one to begin, but weather improving as we went. Vaughn stayed in his wet gear to ward off the showers and this worked well. Down to the M2 and straight out to Old Windsor Rd with just a couple of catch-ups, and through grass farms to a pause at BP Kurmond. Then up Bells Line in alternating cool and misty, sunny, foggy, with mostly dry road and almost no traffic. A quick ride through to the Ampol at Mt. Victoria. Coffee stop and connect with Vaughn's cousin Craig who was coming with us for the day. On down to Hartley and left onto Jenolan Caves Road. Still some roadworks and one-way lights at Hampton, then open roads towards Oberon. Left at Titania Road across to Edith Road then right onto Butter Factory Lane and shift up an notch.
