Ebenezer Church Ride 16th July 2026

 Well, I made a couple of mistakes yesterday. It was drizzling with rain here on the Central Coast, and I had almost decided not to ride when I looked at the weather chart and that suggested that the rain was not going very far inland, so I decided to get into my gear and ride. That was a mistake. I should've stayed home.

 

When I arrived at Berowra there was an excited group of riders examining Rockets new 1300 GS, and wishing him well with running it in.

 

At the start we learned that the nominated ride leader had a mechanical failure, and would not be turning up, so I let myself get press-ganged into putting my hand up to lead the ride. That was a mistake.

 

Given that ride was to the Ebeneezer church for lunch,  which is not a very long ride, I suggested out loud that it would probably be worth making the ride a bit longer, with a ride up Bumble Hill to Jerry's for morning tea, and then across to Ebeneezer for lunch. Everyone thought that was a reasonable idea, but that was my third mistake. We set off up. the old road to go all the way to Somersby, and we just rode straight into the rain. A bit of a hold-up on that run with a very nice police officer chatting with one of our riders, insisting that 20 over was a bit quick on that road and was setting a bad example to the rest of the group) and by the time we had regrouped and continued on , a number of riders had already decided that the time delay and the rain was too much and headed off Home. A bedraggled group of about nine of us made the journey up through Yarramalong and Bumble Hill where we had coffee and cake under the canopy outside of Jerry's shop, rather than out in the grounds where we normally do, and then it was agreed that we would all find our separate way home.

A couple of riders went home via Wisemans Ferry and texted me to say that in fact it was dry out past Spencer, so in the end going directly to Spencer would've been the better decision. Sorry folks.

Broke Ride 4th Sep 2025

 Well over 20 riders were eager for the ride to Broke via the PHW but some crazy drivers put and end to that by crashing at Jolls Bridge. Now it was my first lead and many asked me “where to now”!! So after some deliberation we voted to go on the Berowra ferry and then down to Wiseman’s for lunch. Off we went and only lost 5 on the way but we all met for a warm sunny coffee stop to discuss the many issues of life. After quick break a further debate of “so where to now” was resolved to go to Wollombi for lunch as time was slipping by. A fun run and we caught up with a rider (not to be named) who left McGraths Hill and went to Broke then back to Wollombi. Well I think I have experienced all for my first lead and looking for to the next ride. Thanks guys. Geoff

Lostock Dam Ride 18th June 2026

Thursday Locstock Dam Ride report from the stand-in ride leader.  Allan Scott was to lead but injured himself on Monday.  Whilst sitting on the toilet reading an article on his phone, his leg went to sleep so as he stood up, he fell down.  Sprained right ankle, sore knee and hip.  Allan said the article was very interesting, Stephen suggested he was looking at porn, Danny is thinking of designing a seat belt and my opinion is he was looking the Bank Statement and fainted.  Anyway .... on with the ride.   I was alerted  at 9:37am  that the ride should have left  at 9:30am .  Sorry about that.  Steve Sampson kindly offered to be TEC.  We got under way from Berowra, down the Old Road to Somersby.  Onto the freeway for a short stint to Wyong and along Old Maitland Road, past the triangle, up Hue Hue Road and turned onto Jilliby Road.  I was sure that was the corner Frosty corner marked for me.  Nice run through Jilli...

PADPAL 10th July 2025

  10ish riders gathered at Berowra for a warmer ride but only 5 made it to morning tea at Cooranbong Park via Yarramalong and Mandalong. The rest wussed out and went to Jerry’s.   Holiday traffic was ever present slowing things down a bit and making for more overtaking manoeuvres. Still a good pace was possible on some stretches.  Sitting in the warm sunshine at Millfield cafe over lunch the peace was disrupted when I breathed in a peanut and choked. Thanks to Brian for a back pounding that dislodged said nut and stopped the terrible noise I was making.  Brian led the the group back to the pie where we sat inside out of the cold wind. We made a new acquaintance with a rider that had followed us from Calga and into the carpark so he joined in the solving of the world’s problems.  A great ride, good company and excellent emergency medical intervention 😜 Until the next time.  Andy

PADPAL from Berowra 23rd April 2026

  With so many on the "Not the Mudgee Ride" it was left to 6 riders to start the PADPAL. I say start as we dropped riders along the way. Plan was for smoko at Ebenezer Church on the banks of the Hawkesbury River, then onto Grey Gums for lunch. All went well, we even found Halcrows Rd off Cattai Ridge Rd as there are major road works at the intersection. As ride leader I arrived in 3rd place even though we were on the same Sackville Ferry trip. Lots of talk was had along with scones and tea - a great way to enjoy the company and day. A mutiny was had where the group decided to change the lunch destination, whereby as leader I objected and required the mutineers to go through leadership for any changes. Okay, we agreed to change to Wisemans Ferry for lunch. But only 3 headed that way, losing 2 at the church and another at Wisemans Ferry Rd - they had other interests.
