Bungendore 3 day Ride 15-17th Sept 2026

 How good is spring time.

Much debate about all the flowering blossom trees, mid September is suely the best time to be out west, might quit my job as being retired.

Kickoff - Heathcote Macca as planned via Engadine. 11 riders gathered - fueled up, coffe'd up ready to go. Senic route via National Park to Stanwell tops then on the Shellharbour - marina precinct - very new, nice marina (reconnoiter for my next voyage to Tasy) Own joined the group, next stop - fuel only Nowra then Neriga Pub for lunch. Court Marshalling required for 80% of riders - who think Norwa - spells Neriga. OK - Tarago for arvo tea / lunch for some, why Tarago - stilll part dirt from Neriga to Braidwood. O'oh - missing phone - misplaced, loss, stolen - but not with the owner - comments - forget get a new one, what are they buying with you phone credit card, what to do, call the servo, - not there, sleep on it - so off the Bungendore via the Braidwood road - as we have inside info that Bungendore road has a seriors muddy pack in the middle - as of the weekend

Bungendore - Lake George Hotel - pub great - rooms small but OK.

Find that phone - consulting the banker and tech guru, the phone can be found by using google - 30 mins later - phone found with exact GPS coordinates, how good.

Phone location just near HMAS Albatross on the roadside. Yup eh!! - beers all round.

New day - 2 riders depart to retrieve Alan's phone( ups!) ride of us - leisurely breakfast a check out Bungendore, chilly. Clutch out 0900 - destination Yass.

Country side, lambs looks fabulous - temp about 9, Yass for smoke, memories of yesteryear - Hume Hwy right through middle of town( Yass has been bypassed for about 30 years) great town and the trees - Flowering Pear or Peach - via Google. The Barton Hwy one of the best road surfaces to ride on, minor abuse to TEC from ute driver. Advised Phone recovered and fully functional - thenks Guru

Next stop Young - lunch - then Grenfell to Cowra. Visit to Japanese Gardens for mid arvo - no wind temp 17 - nice. Imperial Hotel for, phone celebration, yarn spinning, meeting old mates, oversized dinner portions of good food, no Kraken or Whisky tonight - lights out 2130. 

Home day - 2 early departures - Sydney and Qld bound, clutch out 0830, Crookwell for morning tea, warmed up with coffee and cakes, sayed a while longer - 3 departed for Off road ride to Marulan and Exeter for lunch, one bike wash to Goulburn, one Kiama bound rider departs at Marulan, 5 to lunch in Exeter plus 1 then plus 2. Good food, more BS - then how fast can I get out of here, Motorway home, a certain Goodwing rider likes to go fast to get home

Home - 1515, 1092 kms, good roads, good company, no lost phone of riders

Also - Jan was pretty unhappy at morning tea in Crookwell

Way Out West Ride 2-3rd Sept 2026

  After a quick briefing 17 talented Riders (2 Ladies and 15 “Gentleman”) departed the Berowra 7 Eleven under clear Spring Sunny Skies at the scheduled   9:30am   earlier start time. As planned our group was joined by Karen Fitzgerald as we cruised by Jerry’s at Kulnura bringing the lady rider numbers up to three. Having Karen join us was a great relief to Allan Scott who was feeling very lost and lonely at the 7 Eleven departure point. The regroup at Wollombi went smoothly as we tracked a further 30k’s north to Broke for our morning tea break. At this point I was mindful of another well known rider Frank Henry from Armidale joining us at the township of Merriwa.  Having used all my amazing computing skills, Artificial Intelligence and other logarithms my ETA given to Frank was to optimistic, so I searched for his “roommate” Wayne whilst at Broke so he could update Frank of a new arrival time. Dungog Ride 28th Mar 2014

Ride Report  28 th   March  202 4  to  Dungog  NSW   It rained during the night so I made a mental note to give the Thursday ride to Dungog a miss…… then I realised I was leading the !@#$ ride. I dragged my sorry beetroot head out of bed, donned my trusty  Rukka  waterproof riding gear and headed to Berowra hoping no other moron would turn up. I was wrong there were fifteen morons hiding under the awning at the 7-Eleven with steady rain falling. Don’t these people have something better to do on a wet Thursday!!! On Wednesday I received a couple of texts inquiring where the morning tea was. I told them Melbourne so they should have arrived there by now but they both piked out because of the inclement weather??? Back to the ride briefing. There were no virgins, except for one dishevelled creature claiming his virginity back due to lack of use or memory. Kiama Ride 21st May 2026

  Yesterdays ride down south to Kiama had perfect weather for riding, around 19 degrees and sunny. Hardly any cars on the road and we moved along briskly, National Park, Old Highway, Mount Kembla which is now closed by a chained gate….so u turn down Mount Kiera to Jamberoo for smoko. Thoughtful conversation ensued about divisions 296 and 855 of the  Income Tax Assessment Act.  Lots of discussion about the recent budget, no discussion about dodgy motorcycles or dealers, financial matters consumed the conversation.   Then up to Saddleback Mountain lookout, quick run down to Kiama Marina for fish n chips, we all left together, all but two of us diverted on the way home for some more National Park, quick stop at a very windy Bald Hill.   It was a nice day out, thanks to those on the ride.   Rod

Tallowa Dam Ride 29th Jan 2026

Well, didn't we have a great time yesterday. Nine riders gathered at McDonald's at Heathcote for a 9.30 start. Promising to be a beautiful day around 24° where we were riding and lots of twisty roads in the destination area, so what could be better. Rocket was there on his new BMW R 1300 GS in all its glory, ready to put it through its paces.   Unfortunately I had to change the end destination, because a bit of research a few days earlier showed that the road to Tallowa dam had suffered storm damage and was closed now, and unlikely to be opened until the middle of the year. Fortunately, there is an equally good destination called Camberwarra Mountain Lookout - about the same distance and all nice twisty roads to get to it so off we went. Steve Sampson on his blue 1250 RT volunteered as tail end Charlie, so everything was sorted.   We turned off the highway into the Royal National Park at Waterfall, went through Stanwell Tops Lookout, up to Helensburg and then back onto the old...
