Ride to Belmont Skiff Club - 5th February 2023

Six riders and two-and-a-half*-in-a-tin-top started out from St Ives on Sunday 5th at around 9.15am. Another fine sunny day with just a hint of autumn and some possible afternoon showers forecast. Coffee and chat at a very busy PITS, and here we collected Erica and Mr Suitcase. Discussions on ride route determined that Suitcase should lead, and so we departed via Old Highway, Peats Ridge, Bumble Hill, and a comfort stop at the Triangle. Then up Hue Hue Road to Wyee, across Rutleys Rd and up the Old Pacific Highway through Swansea to Belmont. The 16 Foot Skiff Club was busy but we managed to snare a nice table by the windows and enjoyed our lunch and dissertations. Departed the Club around 1.45pm and retraced our route back to Doyalson then mostly eased out onto the Expressway. A brisk ride ensued with a following breeze back to the Brooklyn Bridge where I waved ta-ta and opted for the Old Road and a more leisurely pace. Home by 4pm with big clouds building in the south-west, but no showers. Thanks for coming to Suitcase, Erica, Chris B, John O, John W, V de V, MTC and Carolyn and Marley*.

  After a quick briefing 17 talented Riders (2 Ladies and 15 “Gentleman”) departed the Berowra 7 Eleven under clear Spring Sunny Skies at the scheduled   9:30am   earlier start time. As planned our group was joined by Karen Fitzgerald as we cruised by Jerry’s at Kulnura bringing the lady rider numbers up to three. Having Karen join us was a great relief to Allan Scott who was feeling very lost and lonely at the 7 Eleven departure point. The regroup at Wollombi went smoothly as we tracked a further 30k’s north to Broke for our morning tea break. At this point I was mindful of another well known rider Frank Henry from Armidale joining us at the township of Merriwa.  Having used all my amazing computing skills, Artificial Intelligence and other logarithms my ETA given to Frank was to optimistic, so I searched for his “roommate” Wayne whilst at Broke so he could update Frank of a new arrival time. Tallowa Dam Ride 29th Jan 2026

Well, didn't we have a great time yesterday. Nine riders gathered at McDonald's at Heathcote for a 9.30 start. Promising to be a beautiful day around 24° where we were riding and lots of twisty roads in the destination area, so what could be better. Rocket was there on his new BMW R 1300 GS in all its glory, ready to put it through its paces.   Unfortunately I had to change the end destination, because a bit of research a few days earlier showed that the road to Tallowa dam had suffered storm damage and was closed now, and unlikely to be opened until the middle of the year. Fortunately, there is an equally good destination called Camberwarra Mountain Lookout - about the same distance and all nice twisty roads to get to it so off we went. Glen Alice Ride 14th Mar 2024

  Despite the hot weather forecast, 17 riders turned up at Mcgraths Hill and 14 of them made it to lunch. Due to the road into The Garden of Stone still being closed the destination was changed to Glen Alice in the Capertee Valley. The ride up to Lithgow was frustratingly slow due to road works and trucks but after smoko at Maccas we had a clear run to the Capertee Valley. Lunch was at the cafe 'From the Paddock Farm Market' which is worth a visit if you have not been there before. As I needed to get back to Sydney, I abandoned the group and headed for home. As I pulled out the temperature was a pleasant 38 degrees! I assume everybody made it home safely with most returning the way we came and some continuing home via Rysltone and Denman. Currarong Ride 20th April 2023

  Today’s ride to Currarong. I didn’t expect anyone to turn up due to the forecast, it was a bit misty at departure so we all agreed to head straight to the Robertson Pie Shop as it was looking bleak along the coast. The ride to Robbo was brisk and dry up the mountain. Pies were hot and weather mild. Post pies it still looked dodgy along the coast so we scratched Currarong and went for a skid around the southern highlands. All good all the way home, never trust a forecaster.   Cheers Rod

Ave Atque Vale Bob Yonge

  Hi, it's taken me pretty well all day to come to terms. Bob Yonge told me this morning that he will depart this world tomorrow Wednesday. I have known Bob for nigh on 30 years so even though I totally agree and understand his decision it's still came as a a bolt. A lovely respected gentleman who will be sorely missed! He has chosen to die at his home with his family beside him. He said to say hello and goodbye!!! Erica
